Highlight

The personal coding workspace: an embedded VS Code, the Jira board, PR review with drafts, typing drills and the AI mentor — in one macOS app. Tasks, conversations and progress live on this server, so any machine you install it on picks up where you left off.

Install

1. 1. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Highlight into Applications.
2. 2. First launch: double-click Highlight, dismiss the “cannot be opened” warning, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom and press Open Anyway. macOS blocks it once because this build is not signed with an Apple Developer ID; a normal double-click works from then on.Prefer the terminal? xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Highlight.app does the same in one step.
3. 3. Sign in with Google inside the app. Your board, mentor conversations and SRS progress load from this server immediately.

What stays per machine

Your repositories and the embedded editor are local by nature, so on a new machine you pick the repo root folder once and paste your Gemini key in Settings. Everything else — tasks, history, preferences, PR review state — comes from the server.

Requirements

• macOS on Apple Silicon
• code-server for the embedded editor, and the gh / acli CLIs for PR review and Jira
